Inspiration can be found anywhere

One of the unexpected joys of writing is discovering that inspiration rarely arrives when you're sitting at your desk.
It often appears while wandering through the narrow streets of an old European city, standing in front of an extraordinary building, or watching the sun set over the Australian landscape. I've always loved travelling and have developed a lifelong fascination with architecture. Every place has a story, and every building reflects the people who imagined, built and lived within it.
Those experiences quietly find their way into my novels. Sometimes a location becomes the setting for a pivotal scene. Sometimes a doorway, a deserted street or a forgotten building sparks an entirely new idea. More often, it's the people I meet along the way who leave the deepest impression.
And then there's Oscar, my Jack Russell Terrier. He keeps me company while I write and has earned the distinction of being the only non-fiction character to appear in one of my novels.
I hope you'll enjoy following along as I share the stories, places and ideas that continue to shape my writing.
